Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Weidner
Robert Weidner studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University Hamburg and holds a PhD (Dr.-Ing.) on “Knowledge-based planning of assembly systems in the aircraft industry” at the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. Since 2014, Weidner is Head of the Junior Research Group smartASSIST (funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research) as well as Group Leader Robotics at the Laboratory of Production Technologies of the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. Since August 2018, he is Chair of the Professorship Production Technologies at the Institute of Mechatronics at Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck. His interdisciplinary research group investigates support technologies (wearable robotics, assistance systems and robotic systems) as well as methods for developing and evaluating appropriate technologies and concepts for human-machine interaction. Weidner is author and co-author of five editorial works and more than 70 publications. In addition, based on his research, more than 15 inventions were registered as protective rights. Moreover, Weidner was honored as the academics young scientist 2017, is a founding member and one of the speakers of the Junge Forum: Technikwissenschaften (JF: TEC).
